Team Simoco's heritage as Pye Telecommunications Ltd dates back
to before the second world war when the company grew considerably
to make radios for use in tanks.
After the war we supplied the equipment
to CAMTAX who were issued with the first UK PMR
Radio Licence in 1948.
In 1965 (as Pye) we made our first
fully synthesised radio for the Royal Navy
As Pye Telecommunications Ltd we
designed the first portable solid state UHF radios
(PF1 family) which were then used in their thousands
by the world's Police Forces
As Philips RCS Ltd and Philips
Research Labs the company designed 95% of MPT1327
and was one of a group of manufacturers who worked
with the DTI in the UK to standardise the final
MPT1327 protocols.
In parallel the company was also
heavily involved with the development of GSM with
its subsidiaries in Nuremberg and Copenhagen.
Similarly we contributed heavily
as Philips RCS to the development of the POCSAG
radio paging protocol for which we then supplied
world-class products until the 1990s.
In the 90s, as Philips PMR we were
one of the key contributors to the new TETRA digital
radio standard and demonstrated the first compliant
TETRA equipment at ITU-95 in Geneva.
The company then became Simoco
and went on to invest heavily in TETRA Systems,
Mobiles and Portables.
In the
meantime developments in Australia kept our analogue
products
at the leading edge with the development of the
SRM9000 range of DSP (digital signal processor)
based software radios.
AND... we have a Service Centre
which still repairs equipment from these previous
generations......
Team Simoco have always been at the forefront of
radio technology and is taking these technologies
into the future with best of breed integrated radio
communications solutions.
